WHAT IS THERE TO DO AT MARIETAS ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK?
This pristine collection of volcanic islands is a protected RAMSAR site, so no foot traffic is allowed. The rich diversity of sea life, including 16 species of coral and 116 species of colorful fish, make it a scuba and snorkeling paradise. Kayaks and stand up paddleboards are great ways to explore the rugged coastline and rock formations. Bird watchers will love spotting seabirds like the blue-footed booby.
what should I pack for the tour?
Since you'll be spending the day at sea, plan to wear a swimsuit and cover-up and also bring along a dry change of clothes for the boat trip back. To protect the reefs and sea life, use of biodegradable sunscreen is recommended. Also bring a towel, a light sweater and money for souvenirs and photos. There is a SEMARNAT fee of 85 pesos per passenger.
