New Beeswax Crayon Workshop for Children Fuses Sustainability & Creativity At Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (July 23, 2024) - The AAA Five-Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit invites children to fuse nature and creativity with a new beeswax crayon workshop. This creative workshop adds to the extensive list of children's offerings at the all-inclusive Mexican resort, providing an educational yet inspiring workshop to pique children's curiosity in bee conservation and encourage a sense of place.
Besides being chosen by discerning guests every year for vacation, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is also a prime spot selected by bees to rest and feed during their pollination journey, lending support in crop production, biodiversity, healthy soil, clean air, and jobs for more than 100,000 residents on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. This 30-minute workshop will introduce children to the importance of bees in the ecosystem, as well as dive into the conservation efforts that the resort has made to ensure bees are protected on property. Participants will learn how bees use wax to build honeycombs that leave delicious honey for us to consume, and how the leftover wax can be repurposed into crayons and other useful products.
During the lesson, children will pick pigments to mix with beeswax made by protected bees on property. Children can select from an array of molds to fully customize their natural crayons. Paper is provided at the workshop for children to test out their creations. Once the crayons are hardened and set, children are invited to take the crayons and drawings back home as a reminder of what bees provide them.
The beeswax crayon workshop continues the ongoing partnership with AZPER Guardián de la Vida (Guardian of Life), an organization dedicated to environmental conservation efforts aimed at enhancing the well-being of a destination. AZPER actively engages in a variety of initiatives to protect and preserve bees, promote sustainable practices, and raise awareness about environmental issues and the positive impact bees have on our planet. Currently, the resort partners with AZPER to provide special wooden suites and apiaries for the bees, harvesting the honey to use in various restaurants on property.
The beeswax crayon workshop is donation-based and can be scheduled at the Kids Club. All donations collected will help AZPER continue to safeguard biodiversity in Puerto Vallarta. For more information or to book a stay at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, please visit https://vallarta.grandvelas.
