New Poolside Fruit Cart & Salt Bar Emulates Mexico’s Renowned Street Carts At Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit
Riviera Nayarit, Mexico (May 14, 2025) - In a nod to Mexico's vibrant street food culture, the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit now offers a new Poolside Fruit Cart & Salt Bar. While salt once had a bad rap, it's undergone the ultimate wellness rebrand, becoming a coveted ingredient for its health-boosting properties. Rich in essential minerals often lacking in modern diets, these salts not only elevate flavor but also support hydration, aid digestion, and promote electrolyte balance. Nestled beside the resort's infinity pool and set against the breathtaking backdrop of the shimmering Banderas Bay, the new offering brings to life the tradition of enhancing fresh fruit with artisanal salts and spices, a practice deeply rooted in Mexico's culinary heritage.
Inspired by the fruit carts found in bustling Mexico City plazas, Grand Velas' Fruit Cart features local fruit like mango, watermelon, jicama, and pineapple and freshly cracked coconuts. A curated selection of salts to accompany ranges from Maldon salt, harvested from the Blackwater estuary in the English town of Maldon since Roman times, and Himalayan pink - known to support cardiovascular health, to antioxidant black volcanic, anti-inflammatory truffle, and even traditional Maguey worm salt. But the highlight? Colima Sea Salt, rich in magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Harvested by salineros (Mexican salt farmers) from the Lagoon of Coyutlán in Colima, Mexico, just south of Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta. For over 500 years, passed down through generations, salineros have harvested this salt by hand only a few days each year. Unlike other sea salts, Colima sea salt does not contain microplastics. Rainwater percolates down through an ancient dry salt lagoon that acts as a natural filter. Zesty lime wedges and house-made chili blends complete the offering.
All-inclusive rates at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit start at $548 per adult, per night, in a double occupancy. For more information about the hotel or to make a reservation, please visit https://vallarta.grandvelas.
